Re Taylor: I'm not a super fan, don't know all the lore, but I found the songs I've heard lyrically lazy (Kitty is pretty and witty and has the keys to the city, like what is that?). It's laughable that she said her mom thinks "Wood" is about being superstitious (come on Mom, I know you're not that dumb). And yes, all the variants are gross AND she said there was only going to be one album but surprise, there are now four different versions, each with two additional acoustic versions. Just release a second album like she did with TTPD and be done.

I don’t disagree that some of it feels lyrically lazy. The thing is there are loads of songs out there by other artists that are never dissected in this way. Maybe it’s because of who she is/her prior work/ and being one of the world’s biggest artists that we expect more? And yes the zillions of album versions is so icky!

I think Taylor herself talks a lot about how she chooses words and puts meaning into her lyrics, I just saw a clip where she talks about the check kissing the mahogany grain and how she came up with that. She called herself 'your English teacher' in her engagement announcement! Sabrina has gotten lots of press about her wordplay as well. Not every song needs to be deep, but "redwood tree, it ain't hard to see" isn't clever, imo.

But here are my faves, to prove I'm not a total hater ;)... "I look everywhere but in the mirror" and "my love should be celebrated, but you tolerate it" both hit me like a gut punch. I think "Woulda, Could, Shoulda" should get more attention. Blank Space was a great response to gossips. Mine is just fun young love. And who hasn't wanted to scream "We are Never Getting Back Together" at an ex?

I also still use Amazon and shop at Target. I can’t quit Target, with stylish, better quality, inexpensive kids clothes and the cheapest drugstore prices.

I also think that Taylor’s comments about people calling her a trad wife were funny. She explained that her career and interests are part of her, and part of what her fiancée likes about her. Which all just feeds into the idea that women are people, too, who are capable of making their own decisions about what to do with their lives. (WHAAAAAT? I know.)

I still shop at Target! Sometimes I do need something same day and they usually have it, especially if it’s meds. Also cat + jack is great.

I totally agree with your take on Taylor. She was so offended people thought she’d give up her career.

I'm on a combo of Lexapro & Wellbutrin, so I know how you feel. And I also have ADD (Inattentive) and stimulants don't work for me. I recently got the Genomind test prescribed by my functional med doctor, and it was incredibly informative at ensuring I'm on the right meds/dosage. I found out I have something called Slow COM-T, which is actually excessive dopamine and stimulants don't work well for people with this. It explained SO MUCH. You might be the same!

I really appreciate the thoughts you shared here re: Prime Day. Especially the bit about "would you scrutinize your family member or friend for working for a massive tech company, in private equity, or working for United Healthcare, etc.?: is SO TRUE, and something I think about often. We have *lot* more empathy for those in our personal lives caught in the nets of capitalism than those we encounter online. But we're all the same fish.
